Aftershaves and colognes

Hey guys, listen up! This is a bit off topic, but it has to be said.

Scents for men are fine things, we think. Well, not all of them. But the idea is fine.

But some of you haven't been told the rules. Fact is her nose is more sensitive than yours -- she has a better sense of smell. If you marinate in the scent, she is going to find it hard to take. Besides that, it is only someone that you are close to who should ever smell you. No one else wants to and they also don't want to have to tell you that you smell too strongly. Usually the only ones who will speak up are those who are allergic... but if you didn't put so much on, they wouldn't have to.

Bottom line is 'apply sparingly', no matter what the instructions say.

Happy Couples, Happy Planet!

here! here! so totally true! Even the allergic don't want to say anything ...

I have noticed that men's colognes have become more perfumy ... yuck!

I have more problems with women's purfumes and I am a girl ... meaning I don't even have to get close to smell them... what is the male's perspective on the woman's stinky stuff?? =)

You caught me red-handed, being a sexist pig! Women's perfumes usually don't bother me. Based on a course I took a few years back, I'd say that is true for most men. They like the way women smell, usually.

But that might be just because women don't over do it as much. Heather and I both encounter women with overpowering perfume. So some definitely put too much on.

It may also be that men are still not willing to spend that much on scents (though it is changing). Women, on average, are wearing better stuff!

Or maybe I'm just a sexist pig! ; )

noooo, I don't think you're a sexist pig! or I wouldn't have asked your opinion on women and their perfume! =)

thank you for being honest ... I tend to be hard on women and their scents =) think I need to relax a bit !

verrrrry interesting that women's noses are more sensitive .... are men's sence of taste more acute than women's? silly question but a burning one for me!

Sorry to take so long getting back to you. I can't find the two articles I was going to reference in replying!

Taste and smell are almost two parts of the same sense, so women typically have a better sense of taste, too. (Of course, some men can taste and smell better than most women, but we are talking averages here.)

One of the worries I read about this is that women often avoid strong tasting vegetables, like broccoli and brussels sprouts as a result. Of course, they are the ones that are really good for you! But, then, I know many men who also avoid those veggies. Or all veggies, unless they are french fried potatoes!

wow! I truly didn't realize about the taste thing... I have two men in my life that rave about the taste of food ... I so often think I am missing out on something... and I probably am! I think my sence of smell is average or above average .... wondering if I have some dead taste buds!!!! =) thank you for insights here!
